Help Us Meet New Challenges

As the spring and summer months approach, more of our neighbors are facing new and increasing challenges just to put food on the table.

The Reality Facing Our Neighbors Today

Our community is currently weathering a combination of policy changes and economic pressures that are pushing working families to the breaking point:

  • Reductions in SNAP & Food Assistance: Recent rules have restricted access and reduced monthly benefit amounts for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). With 10% of our households relying on SNAP to bridge the gap, these cuts have pulled the safety net out from under our most vulnerable neighbors—including households with children and the elderly.

  • Rising Grocery Prices: The cost of putting food on the table continues to climb. Prices for essential items like meat, dairy, and produce remain at record highs, meaning a family's weekly budget simply buys far less food than it used to.

  • Increasing Fuel Costs: Higher prices at the pump hit rural communities especially hard. For working families commuting to their jobs, rising gas prices consume a much larger portion of their already stretched paychecks.

  • Compounding Economic Pressures: Unrelenting inflation on basic living expenses—from utility bills to housing costs—leaves many families making impossible choices between keeping the lights on and keeping the fridge stocked.

When the safety net weakens, people turn to local pantries like ours. We are the last line of defense, but as the need continues to grow, we cannot hold the line alone.

Other Items

Time

Personal items such as deodorant, feminine hygiene items, cleaning supplies are not covered by SNAP.    We have a small table dedicated to these items, stocked solely with donations.

Giving of time looks different to many people. Volunteering during a distribution for a few hours, hosting a food drive at work or lending a hand with fundraising events locally. We appreciate it all. Email us to connect!
